Most guides guess at this, and the guesses run anywhere from three a day to thirty. We counted instead.

How we counted

• What: Every DoubleDown free chip promo we listed on Morning Reward, with the chip amount and the delivery channel named when it was first posted.
• When: 29 May to 3 October 2026: 128 days in a row, with no missing days.
• How many: 1,996 promos.
• Limits: These numbers show how many promos went out and what they offered. Some promos are aimed at particular players, as explained further down.

What we found

• Every day had promos: All 128 of 128 days.
• A typical day had 16: The average was 15.6. The quietest days had 11 and the busiest had 25, on 12 June 2026.
• About 3.9 million chips a day: That is what a typical day's chip promos added up to. The lowest day offered 2.8 million and the highest 7.0 million.
• Fridays were busiest: Fridays averaged 17.2 promos and about 4.5 million chips. Sundays and Mondays were the quietest, at about 14.3 promos and 3.6 million chips.

Treat the daily total as a ceiling, not a promise. Most players will not claim every promo, for two reasons covered below: about half only reach you if you have signed up for the right channel, and DoubleDown limits how many you can claim in a short window.

DoubleDown Casino is a social casino: the slot machines are modelled on real Las Vegas cabinets, but every bet uses virtual chips, so there is nothing to win or withdraw.

The game is published by DoubleDown Interactive, based in Seattle. Slot maker IGT owned the studio from 2012 until June 2017, when it sold it for $825 million to DoubleU Games of South Korea, which still holds the controlling stake. DoubleDown Interactive has been listed on Nasdaq under the ticker DDI since 2021. DoubleU Games also runs DoubleU Casino, a separate game with its own chips that people often confuse with this one.

The App Store listing promises over 200 slot machines, from three-reel classics to IGT titles such as Double Diamond, Golden Goddess, DaVinci Diamonds and Wheel of Fortune slots. Blackjack, roulette and video poker are there as well. You need an internet connection to play.

Of the 1,824 promos with a readable chip amount, 94% were worth between 200,000 and 300,000 chips, and the middle value was 275,000. Bigger ones were uncommon. Promos of 350,000 or 400,000 made up about 5%, and 500,000 turned up only 25 times in 128 days, roughly once every five days. Four promos offered 1 million chips.

So be wary of any post or site promising tens of millions of chips from a single DoubleDown link. That is far beyond anything the real promos paid over these four months.

The remaining promos paid free spins instead of chips: 162 of them, mostly 30 free spins sent by email or 20 free spins sent through Messenger.

DoubleDown hands out free chips in more places than its Facebook page. Its help center lists the official ones: the Facebook page, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube video descriptions, promotional emails, mobile notifications, Facebook notifications, and a Facebook Messenger helper called Penny.

About half the promos in our records were labelled as coming through a channel that only reaches players who have signed up for it:

• Email, 31% of promos: Averaged about 300,000 chips, and carried most of the free spins offers.
• Mobile notifications, 12%: Also averaged about 300,000 chips.
• Messenger (Penny), 7%: Smaller, at about 200,000 chips on average.
• No channel named, 50%: Averaged about 270,000 chips.

That is roughly eight promos a day that a player who only follows the Facebook page may never see. Turning these channels on costs nothing:

   Email: Connect your account to Facebook, or register your guest account with an email address in the game's Settings. Genuine DoubleDown emails only ever come from email@e1.ddc-emails.com. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder.

   Mobile notifications: Allow notifications for the app in your phone's settings. To claim, tap the notification itself. Opening the app on its own does not collect the chips.

   Penny on Messenger: Go to the DoubleDown Casino Facebook page, press Message, then Get started. Tap one of Penny's reply buttons each day to keep the chips coming. A missed day cannot be collected later.

DoubleDown's help center says you can collect free chip offers up to 12 times in any three-hour period. Try a 13th and you get the message "You've reached the limit" until enough time has passed.

On 124 of our 128 days there were more than 12 promos, so on almost every day you cannot claim everything in one sitting. A routine that fits the limit:

   Newest first: Start with the most recent promos, which are the least likely to have expired.

   Stop at the limit: If you see the limit message, stop. Retrying will not help until three hours have passed since your earlier claims.

   Second round: Come back later the same day for whatever is left.

Promos do expire, and DoubleDown does not publish how long each one lasts, so the safe habit is to claim on the day you see it.

• Daily Wheel: One free spin on your first visit each day, resetting at 12:00 AM Pacific time. Your payout adds the wedge you land on, a Return Bonus of 10,000 chips for each day in a row you have visited (up to 25 days), and a Friend Bonus for Facebook friends who play (up to 25 friends). DoubleDown's own help pages give two different figures for the Friend Bonus, 1,000 and 10,000 chips per friend, so check the breakdown under your own spin.
• Time Bonus: Chips build up every hour. They stack up to three times, or four with a Booster, so collecting about every three hours means you never lose any.
• Friend gifts: Send one gift a day to each Facebook friend who plays, and redeem up to 3 gifts a day from them. Higher Diamond Club tiers can redeem up to 15, or 30 with a Booster. Unused gifts expire after 7 days. Guest accounts cannot send or receive gifts.
• Level-ups: Every bet earns experience, win or lose, and each new level pays bonus chips. Bigger bets earn experience faster. Free bonus-round spins earn none.
• Fun Mode: When you drop below 10,000 chips, the game offers Fun Mode: a fixed 500-chip bet on a slot with no jackpots. If you are under 1,000 chips it tops you up to 1,000, and it ends once you are back over 10,000.
• Inviting friends: A friend who installs through your invite link earns you a bonus that starts at 1,000,000 chips.
• Prize draws: Occasional giveaways with published rules, such as the Mega Stuffed S'mores event on 3 and 4 October 2026, which drew 20 winners of 500,000,000 chips each.

One to skip if you are playing for free: the Supreme Wheel that may pop up after your daily spin is a paid spin, not a bonus.

Most failures have a simple cause: you are on a different login (DoubleDown treats Facebook, Google, Apple, email and guest logins as separate accounts), you have hit the 12-claim limit, the promo was meant for another account, or it has expired. On Android, links opened inside the Facebook app have a known problem.

Our troubleshooting guide goes through each cause in order, with DoubleDown's fixes for every device. DoubleDown also says it never asks for personal details in exchange for chips and never posts offers in comment threads, so an offer that does either is not from DoubleDown.

Slots are the heart of the game, and new machines arrive while older ones are retired. DoubleDown keeps a public list of retired slots, so if a favorite disappears, check that list before reinstalling.

• High Limit Room: Top jackpots are doubled on every slot, new slots appear here first, and spinning fills a bonus wheel of its own. Free entry: spin slots three days in a row, and you keep access for as long as you play every day. Miss a day and the count starts over. A Booster, which comes with some chip packages, gives instant access.
• Megabucks Room: Home of the slots with a Megabucks Jackpot. On a phone it sits on the Hot Slots tab.
• Mobile-only slots: A handful of slots, including several Wheel of Fortune versions, appear only in the phone and tablet apps.
• Diamond Club: The loyalty program, free to join. Loyalty Points come only from buying chips. Higher tiers add bigger Daily Wheel wedges, raise the gift limit from 3 a day to as many as 15 (30 with a Booster), and bring weekly VIP Vouchers, which arrive every Saturday at midnight and expire at 11:59 PM Pacific on Thursday. If you never buy chips, you stay at the starting tier, and everything else on this page still works.
• Pyramid League: A weekly leaderboard. Cards drop at random on eligible slots, your rank adds a multiplier to the Time Bonus, and rankings reset every Monday.
• Mission Pass and Journey: Daily and seasonal challenges, plus limited-time events where you complete slot missions within a set number of spins.

Not in the cash sense. Chips cannot be withdrawn or swapped for money, and nothing in the game pays real prizes. The App Store rates it 17+, and DoubleDown says it is intended for players 21 and over.

Buying chips is optional, but it is how the game makes its money, and that has been tested in court. In June 2023 a federal judge in Seattle gave final approval to a $415 million class action settlement over claims that DoubleDown's games broke Washington State gambling law. IGT paid $269.75 million of it and DoubleDown $145.25 million.

Everything on this page can be done without spending. If you do buy chips, set a budget first and stick to it.
